Mahindra Youth Football Challenge

We inaugurated the Mahindra Football Challenge in September 2010 to develop young Indian football talent. We're partnering with the Celtic Football Club, one of the dominant clubs in the Scottish Premier League, to provide competitive training and high-profile talent-scouting.

The tournament opens with an intra-city knockout competition between 32 schools in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Goa, Bangalore, and Kerala. The winning team in each city will receive Rs 30,000 in prize money, the runners-up will receive Rs 20,000, and the third place team will receive Rs 15,000. The winners and runners-up will also be awarded trophies, and each player will be given a kit bag. Outstanding skill will be recognized with a Star Performer of the Game trophy for each quarter-final match and a Best Player of the Tournament trophy for overall performance.

The victor from each city moves on to the major tournament, enjoying the gift of two official uniforms and all-expenses-paid travel, lodging, and board. But the real prize is the skills camp conducted by a panel of visiting coaches from the Celtic Football Club. For four days before the final tournament, these six teams and their coaches will benefit from intensive coaching by some of the top football professionals in the world.

The Celtic Football Club panel will observe the final tournament to search for talent. The champions receive a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and the first place trophy, and the runner-up team win a cash prize of Rs 30,000 and the second place trophy. Exceptional players are honored with awards for Star Performer of the Game, Best Striker, Best Midfielder, Best Defender, and Best Goalkeeper.

The top 16 players from the final tournament will be invited to an elite five-day coaching clinic. Over the course of the training, the Celtic Football Club coaches will select two to four of the best players to travel to Scotland for further training.

Our partnership with the Celtic Football Club will strengthen football opportunities in India, providing young players with better competition and a career path to professional leagues.
