Goa scored a fluent 2-1 win over Meghalaya. Drupesh Dessai and Francis Fernandes scored for Goa. Drupesh Dessai played first time for Goa team and scored to be a match winner. Goa even missed an penalty shot.

Goa began their campaign in the 62nd Santosh Trophy with a 3-1 victory over Uttarakhand. Goa took the lead early in the first half when Nicolau Borges slammed in a rebound of the goalkeeper. Goa took time to settle down and were not very convincing in the first half. Freddy Mascarenhas missed sitter and shot out with the goalkeeper at his mercy. The Goan midfield tried a number of long rangers which did not trouble the Uttarakhand keeper.
A pep talk at lemon time by coach Mauricio Afonso had an effect and the Goan lads trooped in with renewed determination and Peter Carvalho increased the lead in the 47th minute. Joaquim Abranches sealed their fate with a goal in the dying minutes. Goa are presently tied with Meghalaya on points and goal difference and require to win their next match to enter the next round.

After a four and half hour delay in the fight to Jammu & Kashmir the Goa Team finally settled down. Their Hotel is situated just opposite the Dal Lake a very popular tourist spot.
Yesterday the team watched uttaraKhand play Meghalaya as both the teams are in the same group.
Today the team had a light work out in the morning. Rains have caused damage to some of the grounds and some matches are being shifted to other grounds. Goa will take on Uttarakhand at 4.30 p.m. on the 29th May 2008.

Goa squad for SantoshTrophy has left for Srinagar on Monday 26th. May. The team consisting players; Felix D'Souza. Micky Fernandes, Gerald D'Mello, Tyson Caiado, Valeriano Rebello. John Dias, Rowilson Rodrigues, Fulgencio Cardozo, Cesson Antao, Nicholas Rodrigues, Joaquim Abranches, Nicholau Borges, Peter Carvalho, Milagres Gonsalves, Freddy Mascarenhas, Joe Rodrigues, Drupesh Dessai, Francis Fernandes and Denzil Franco, besides the officials comprising Mauricio Afonso (Coach), Peter Vales, Ceasar Machado and Sachinder.
Goa will open their first engagement against Uttarakhand on May 29.

The following decisions have been taken by the Disciplinary Sub-Committee.1- Mark Fernandes and Pradeep Dias, of Socio Cultural Club, Loutulim, have been suspended for three months for abusing the referee during a match against Betalbatim Sports Club.
2- Socio Cultural Club, loutulim, has been fined Rs. 500/-, as their team did not resume play during the second half of the match against Betalbatim Sports Club.
3- Menino Miranda of Margao Sports Club has been suspended for three months for abusing and threatening the referee during a match against Santa Cruz Club Cavelossim.
4- Johnny Fernandes of Siridao Sports Club has been suspended for six months for assaulting the referee during a match against Ambelim Sports Club, and has been asked to apologise for his behaviour.
5- Siridao Sports Club has been fined Rs. 1000/- for misbehaviour on the part of their player Johnny Fernandes.
